Testimonials

The Pawelek family

“Cassie did an amazing job taking photos of our family with our newest little member! It was short notice for her yet she was incredibly flexible and made the whole process easy on our family. Cassie spent the afternoon in our home and was very professional and creative with her shots and so patient with our toddlers and tiny baby! The pictures she captured are so heartwarming and exactly what I wanted as a mother. Thanks Cassie for your beautiful images, we will cherish them FOREVER!”

FAQ

How do you photograph newborns?

I am a lifestyle newborn photographer! Basically this means that rather than a posed baby with a ton of props, my photos are all about you and your baby. We're after the authentic photos that'll let you remember what life was like when your baby first came home.

How long will the session actually last? (i.e. why is the session so long?!)

Every session involving newborns is different! Sometimes things go smoothly and we're done in an hour, other times baby may be a little fussy and need more time to get the photos we want. Whether it takes one hour or three, I'll stay with you until we can create these beautiful memories!

When should I book my session?

You should book around the six month mark of your pregnancy. This way I know when your due date is and I can be sure to keep spots available in that time frame. Once your baby is born, you'll send me a message with the good news and we'll set a time from there!

What if my baby doesn't want to cooperate?

Crying, inability to sleep, diaper changes and feeding breaks are all normal things during a newborn session, so if we run into any (or all) of these things it's no big deal! Just stay patient and trust that we're still going to get some beautiful photos of your sweet family. This also means that sometimes newborn sessions take a while, so that's why my full newborn session allows for two to three hours of photo taking.

What can I do to help My session go smoothly?

- Try keeping the baby awake for 30 minutes to an hour before your session begins (don't stress if you can't! Babies have their own ideas of when they want to sleep and that is okay!)
- Try to wait to feed the baby until right before the session starts if possible, as that typically helps get babies into a sleepy state.
- If we're taking pictures of the baby with any older siblings, we'll take those first and when we're done (or when the siblings decide they're done) we can move on to just the baby or photos of the baby and parents.

How soon after the baby is born will the session take place?

Typically you want to take the newborn photos in the first 7-14 days of the baby's life. This way, they're still very sleepy and easy to pose.

Do I get to choose which photos are 'included'?

Absolutely! After your session, you'll receive an online proofing gallery where you choose which photos you receive in your gallery. If (or when) you fall in love with more images than are include in your package, you'll have the option to add digital files for $15/image, or you can purchase the full gallery.

Can I print my photos myself?

You can print your photos wherever you like! Of course I'll recommend you print your images through my online store (accessed through your online gallery) because it's a quick, convenient way to get your high-quality professional prints and products, but bottom line is you have the right to choose where you print. You'll receive a print release which authorizes you to print your images for personal use in any quantity or at any size.
